Christopher Kean is a Toronto-based visual artist working primarily in painting and sculpture. His work explores the human figure, identity, intimacy and the emotional complexities of human connection, often drawing from his experiences and perspective as a queer artist.

Inspired by classical figurative art, Renaissance sculpture and contemporary visual culture, Christopher is particularly interested in the contrast between physical strength and emotional vulnerability. His work explores moments of solitude, desire and introspection, using the human body to tell stories that extend beyond its physical appearance.

Light and colour are central to his practice. Through dramatic contrasts, expressive colour and carefully considered compositions, he creates atmosphere and emotion, inviting viewers to discover the quieter narratives within each piece.

With a background in graphic design and a professional career in 3D animation, Christopher brings a strong foundation in anatomy, movement and visual storytelling to his work. His growing interest in traditional painting and sculpture has become an opportunity to explore a more personal form of artistic expression.

He continues to develop his practice through independent work and ongoing studies at the Toronto School of Art, embracing the process of experimentation, learning and discovery.
